Good News: OSS Wins the “2024 Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility Award” from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia
On December 14, during the “Shaping a New Chapter, Opening a New Era, Starting a New Journey: 2024 Members’ Meeting” organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, OSS was once again awarded the prestigious title of “2024 Outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Company.” This marks the second consecutive year OSS has received this honor. Additionally, OSS was elected as a member of the board of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, marking a new milestone in strengthening China-Indonesia cooperation.
OSS’s Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a cornerstone of business development. OSS has demonstrated its commitment through concrete actions. Since its establishment, OSS has adhered to the principle of “Rooted in Indonesia, Building Together for Mutual Success.” In 2024, the company actively advanced four major CSR projects:
- An Educational Support Program,
- A Community Welfare Initiative,
- A Clean Water Pipeline Project, and
- A Road Improvement Project.
Through these practical and impactful initiatives, OSS has significantly contributed to enhancing local education, infrastructure, community welfare, and environmental sustainability.
1. Paving the Way to the Future
Transportation is the backbone of regional economic development, and improving transport infrastructure is key to fostering community prosperity. To address the accessibility challenges faced by villages in Morosi and Bondoala sub-districts, OSS launched the “Road Improvement Project in 10 Villages across Three Sub-districts” in February 2024. Utilizing recycled slag from its operations as road construction material, OSS successfully reduced costs while minimizing environmental impact. This project not only improved travel conditions for local residents but also injected new vitality into the local economy.
2. Spreading Warmth to Orphans
Orphans are among the most vulnerable groups in society. Through the “Public Welfare Support for Orphanages in Konawe” program, OSS provided material assistance and emotional support to these children. In June 2024, OSS supplied instant noodles and rice to eight orphanages in Konawe Regency, benefiting thousands of children. By adopting a “targeted assistance” approach, the program aimed to improve the living conditions of orphans while fostering a sense of care and warmth. OSS’s collaboration with the Konawe Social Welfare Office further strengthened partnerships between the company and local government.
3. Spreading Hope Through Education
Education is a powerful force for changing lives. OSS implemented the “Scholarship Program for 100 Students in Three Sub-districts,” which provided financial aid or school supplies to nearly 100 outstanding junior and senior high school students in August 2024. This initiative not only helped distribute educational resources more equitably but also motivated students to strive for excellence. By supporting the younger generation, OSS not only provided material assistance but also illuminated their futures with the light of education.
4. Solving the Water Crisis for Local Communities
In response to water scarcity caused by drought in three sub-districts, OSS took the initiative to implement the “Clean Water Pipeline Project.” This project involved setting up water distribution points along the company’s main pipeline and constructing pipelines to deliver clean water to nearby villages. This effort not only alleviated the water shortage faced by local residents but also showcased OSS’s commitment to community service. The project became a vital link between the company and the community, fostering deeper integration.
5. Building a Harmonious Society Together
OSS upholds the philosophy of “Consultation, Co-construction, and Shared Benefits.” Since early 2024, OSS and its employees have organized over 50 independently initiated social activities, blending Chinese culture with Indonesian local traditions. These efforts have bridged cultural divides and created a harmonious coexistence.
This award not only recognizes OSS’s exemplary CSR practices but also highlights the company’s role in promoting bilateral cooperation between China and Indonesia and fostering social harmony.
